It is not an easy task to select the suitable weight sensor for your required weighing applications, since no one aluminum load cell can fit all applications. Here lists out some key points for you to consider during your selection process of load cell.
Firstly, you should understand your application and define what it is you want to measure. If you want to measure load, it means that you want to convert input mechanical force into an electrical signal.
Secondly, you should clearly know about the mounting type. How will you be mounting this load cell? Is it female/male thread, In-line, side mount, thru-hole, or compression washer? What is your load direction? (Tension, Compression, or both)
Thirdly, if you don’t select the correct load cell, it will affect the performance and accuracy. It is important to define your minimum and maximum capacity requirements. You should determine your capacity requirements and clear about the safe overload and ultimate overload of the selected load cells.
Finally, you should define your size requirements (width, height, length, etc) and specification requirements such as output, nonlinearity, hysteresis, creep, bridge resistance, protection class etc.
These tips will make you select your sensor more smoothly. It is very important to find a sensor manufacturer that has the proven experience to support your needs.
If you prepare for a completely new application, remember to select a load cell manufacturer that has a reputation for taking on these new challenges and would be able to work with you every step of the way from design through to manufacturing and implementation.
